Dear Future Theatre Major: You’re in it.

I wanted to take a second to say, “You can do this.” (You too, parents.) No matter how many times people share about their college audition experiences, you just don’t know it until you’re in it yourself. And all of you are there.

You’re in it. You’re in the thick of it. Here are a few things to remember: Take a breath. You will land where you are supposed to be. There is a place for you. Take each task, each taping, each application, one at a time. You will get the work done. Work smart. Ask yourself, “Does this actually need to be done by today? Can I give myself a day or two?” Believe it or not, you may have more time. Double check your spreadsheets and webpages.

You may be putting pressure on yourself that isn’t needed.

Keep your eyes and mindset forward. The next two weeks are going to bring a lot of information in regards to callbacks. The no’s (if they come) will sting, and they always will in this career. Keep moving forward. Lean into your yeses, and your in person audition options. The journey is not over. You are not finished. And that is great news. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and we at Theatre Major are here to support you through the entire journey. You got this.
